Temporal Investigation is a narrative-focussed time bending experience made with Unreal Engine 5. Players need to solve a crime scenario using a mechanic called “”Temporal Displacement””. It allows for the advancement and reversal of time for the whole environment. Many key interactables exist only during a certain portion of the global timeline. They reveal crucial aspects about the game’s story upon being found. In order to progress the game players need to use ‘Chain Mode’ to form relationships between objects that are story-relevant. The game features an original soundtrack and utilizes custom dynamic soundscapes to guide the player. In order to be more accessible, it provides features like localization and controller support.
