Two Shells
Nominee of the Talent Award 2025
Description
Two Shells is a top-down extraction shooter set in a sci-fi testing environment.
You play as a bot tasked with testing various weapons by destroying a series of extraction towers. Along the way, you encounter different enemies that must be defeated. Each extraction sequence consists of multiple phases, such as enemy waves, holding zones, and more.
The project went through several iterations and core concept changes. Originally, the idea behind Two Shells was centered around a shotgun mechanic: you would load two different shells with unique effects into the barrel, and the gun would alternate between them with each shot. While this concept sounded interesting in theory, we ultimately couldn’t execute it in a satisfying way during testing.
As a result, we shifted to the current design: the player now has access to two weapons, each triggered by either the left or right mouse button.
We also implemented a Wave Mode, which allows players to freely experiment with the different weapons.
A fully interactive tutorial is included in the game, which is why we haven’t added much explanation in the press kit.
